When your mind is blank, your juice is dried up and yet you still yearn to write, it’s time to go back to basics. Back to a writing class, one that’s a bit off the wall, but solid on process. There’s a progression of processes you must adhere to, follow and hopefully, presto you’re back writing. Even if it’s trivial, even if it’s boring, even if it’s difficult because your mind is constipated…voila every day at the computer, writing something. It’s Jack Grapes’ Method of Writing. The class is large, fluid, people coming and going, but mostly coming and staying.I did this class before, took several semesters, then left for maybe 8 years. Boy time flies fast when you’re looking back.

I need structure, but in this class it’s not structure of story, but process. What you can count on when the days are not inspiring, when all you hear in your head, is blah, blah, blah. Something important to remember is “Being in process means giving up the desire for product.” Jack Grapes. If you build the process, a story will come.
